Choose the correct length
The options show the total cut length of chain supplied, not the finished loop drop.
To estimate the chain needed, measure the finished top-to-bottom loop drop and multiply it by two.
For example:
-
50cm loop drop requires approximately 1 metre of chain.
-
75cm loop drop requires approximately 1.5 metres of chain.
-
100cm loop drop requires approximately 2 metres of chain.
Allow a small additional amount if you intend to cut and adjust the chain during fitting.
Check compatibility
Blind-control mechanisms use different chain sizes. This product is No.6 chain and is intended for compatible vertical-blind mechanisms.
Before ordering:
-
Compare the bead size and spacing with your existing chain.
-
Check that your mechanism is designed for No.6 chain.
-
Compare your existing chain with the measurements shown in our photographs.
-
Do not assume that every white blind chain is the same size.
This is not the same as the larger No.10 chain commonly used by roller and Roman blinds.
If you are uncertain, send us a clear photograph of your existing chain next to a ruler before ordering.
How to fit
-
Remove the blind from its brackets if required.
-
Carefully open the appropriate end of the headrail.
-
Feed the new chain through the control mechanism.
-
Join the two ends using the compatible chain connector.
-
Check that the chain runs smoothly without twisting.
-
Refit or replace the child-safety tensioning device.
The exact fitting method varies between headrail systems. Follow the original blind manufacturer’s instructions where available.
Child-safety information
Looped blind chains must be securely restrained and kept out of the reach of children.
Fit an appropriate chain-tensioning safety device and follow the blind manufacturer’s safety instructions. If the existing device is missing or damaged, add a replacement Blind Cord & Chain Safety P Clip to your order.
